Creating your workspace
Sign up, verify your email, then set the workspace up with a first project, a first issue and your team.
Signing up creates a new workspace for your team, with you as its Owner. If a colleague has already invited you, accept the invitation instead. That puts you in their workspace rather than creating a new one.
- Open the sign-up page (Create an account on the sign-in page).
- Enter your Full name, a Workspace name (usually your company or team), your Work email and a Password of at least 8 characters.
- Tick I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy.
- Choose Create workspace.
The strength meter under the password is a guide only. The one rule is a minimum of 8 characters, but a longer password with letters, numbers and a symbol is safer.
If the sign-in page shows Continue with Google, Continue with GitHub or Continue with Microsoft, you can sign up with one of those instead. A first sign-in that way creates a workspace named after you, such as "Alex's Workspace". You can rename it later in Settings → Workspace. If that email address already has an invitation waiting, you join that workspace instead.
Verify your email
After Create workspace you may see Check your email. Enter the 6-digit code you were sent and choose Verify and continue. Nothing is created until the code is accepted.
- A code works for 15 minutes.
- If it does not arrive, check your spam folder, then send a new code. You must wait a minute between codes.
- If the email already has an account, sign-up stops. If it has a pending invitation, use the invitation link from that email instead.
What a new workspace includes
- You, as its Owner.
- The standard roles: Owner, Admin, Member, Approver, Auditor and Guest. See Members and roles.
- A default workflow with the statuses Todo, In progress, Review and Done.
- Trackers for Epic, Story, Task and Bug, and the priorities Urgent, High, Medium and Low.
There are no projects yet. Creating the first one is your next step.
The Getting started checklist
Home shows a Getting started card with a few steps that make the workspace usable. It counts how many you have done:
- Create a project: every issue, sprint and board lives in one.
- Create your first issue: press C anywhere.
- Invite a teammate.
- Connect GitHub, on plans that include GitHub integration.
- Publish an intake form, so anyone can file a request without an account.
The card goes away once every step is done or the workspace is clearly in use. You can also dismiss it with its close button. Dismissing it only hides it in that browser.
Create your first project and invite people
- In the sidebar, choose the + next to Projects, give the project a name and key, and choose Create project. See Projects.
- Open Members in the sidebar and choose Invite member. Enter an email address, pick a role and choose Send invite. See Members and roles.
- Add the people who will work on the project to its Team tab.
Joining by invitation
An invitation email contains a link. Opening it shows You've been invited to join and the workspace name.
- New to the app: enter Your name and a Password (at least 8 characters).
- Already have an account with that email: enter Your current password.
- Choose Join workspace.
More than one workspace
You can belong to several workspaces, one for each invitation you accept. When you do, Switch workspace appears in your user menu and beside the workspace name at the top of the sidebar. The list shows your role in each workspace. You cannot create a second workspace yourself from inside the app.
