Labels
Create the coloured tags people put on issues, for the whole workspace or one project.
Settings → Labels
Labels are coloured tags for issues — frontend, needs-design, regression. People use them to filter and group work. A label can be available in every project or just one.
Create a label
- Open Settings and choose Labels (under Workspace).
- Choose New and enter a Name of at least two characters.
- Pick a Color.
- Under Applies to, leave All projects ticked, or untick it and choose one project.
- Choose Create label.
Edit or delete a label
Click a label in the list to load it into the form, change it, and choose Save changes. Delete it with the bin icon in the list or the Delete button in the form.
Deleting a label removes it from every issue that carries it, and cannot be undone.
Using labels
- On an issue, set them from the Labels field in the issue detail panel.
- A project-scoped label is offered only in its project; an unscoped one everywhere.
- Issue templates can add labels automatically, and issue automations can add one when a rule matches.
Who can manage labels
The Labels page appears for people with the label update permission (Owners and Admins by default). Anyone who can see it without the create or update permission gets a read-only view.
