On-call roster

Who is on call, and when — for the On-call assignment strategy.

Settings → On-call roster

Who's on call, and when — feeds the "On-call" auto-assignment strategy under Settings → Assignment. Configuring a schedule here does nothing on its own until an assignment rule is pointed at it. Owner/Admin only.

How coverage is decided

Explicit shifts, not a rotation formula — each shift is a person plus a start/end time. "Who's on call right now" is answered by finding the shift whose window covers the current moment. If no shift covers right now, nobody is considered on call for that schedule.

  • Shifts can be added for any active member of the organization.
  • Overlapping shifts on the same schedule aren't prevented — if two exist for the same moment, the most recently-starting one wins.

Using it in assignment

A project's assignment rule picks the On-call strategy and a schedule; a new issue in that project then goes to whoever's shift covers the moment it's created. No shift covering that moment means the issue is left unassigned — same as having no assignment rule at all.

A schedule can't be deleted while an assignment rule still points at it — remove or repoint that rule first.
